This photographic image was donated to the Friends of Mead Public Library for their Centennial Photography Project. This picture was taken sometime between 1876-1878. This small town was known by the name Lina and Winooski. It was located in Lyndon Township, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin. 1. J.J. Hobbs store and post office, 1871 - 1891; 2. Liberty Pole which was about 100 feet high; 3. Shoe store; 4. Cheese factory; 5. Joern's Grist Mill; 6. Mrsd. Shadbolt's residence; 7. Joern's Saw Mill; 8. G.S. Jewett residence, which was the post office from 1865 - 1871; 9. County Insane Asylum, which was built in 1876. It was destroyed by fire on February 20, 1878. Four of seventeem inmates perished.
