- Description
Founded in 1868, Marshfield experienced a steady growth based on lumbering and agriculture. William H. Upham, whose Upham Manufacturing Company figures in this view, promoted the city's fortunes. An 1887 fire destroyed much of the city, but by 1891 the business district had been rebuilt in brick, as proudly illustrated in the inset views.
