- Description
This folder contains WATS line reports, presumably from the Atlanta SNCC office, and cover all states in which volunteers were working during February of 1965. Reports detail failed and successful integration of businesses as well as threats, intimidation and violence to civil rights workers. Also covered are the violent protests and arrests in Selma, Alabama, primarily involving students and their parents. Other reports cover testimony and progress involving the investigation of the murders of Herbert Lee and Louis Allen in Amite County and the neighboring Pike County. Many towns all around the south report on school boycotts to promote desegregation and other protests by high school students. Calls also come from SNCC offices around the country reporting protests in solidarity with civil rights workers in the south, such as Providence, Rhode Island and Berkeley, California.
