- Description
The lumberyard started out as sheds and stables built for the Hutchison Lumber Company; these were altered and warehouses added over the years as needs changed. By 1891, the business was known as the Martin and Prideaux Lumber Yard with James D. Martin and Benjamin Prideaux as partners. By 1900 it was the J. D. Martin and Company Lumber Yard, then the Mineral Point Lumber Company from 1906 until it closed in the 1950s.
