Front Picture Description: Black and white image of lots of water, no road showing with utility poles in the water. There are buildings and hills in the background. I believe this picture shows where County Road A is located now. From ‘The Place Names of Richland County, Wisconsin’ by Margaret Helen Scott, published in 1973 by Richland County Publishers, Inc. in Richland Center: HORSE CREEK [RICHLAND and MARSHALL(townships)] – After his horse was mired in the creek and died, Samuel Swinehart called the stream Horse Creek. Others say a dead horse was found in the water.
