Front Picture Description: Black and white image of building with 3 people standing on the front step. Parts of 2 cars can be seen on the street as well as a baby carriage on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant. This was run by Peter & Chrystanthy Stathis. The Blue Bird was also a candy shop and had a soda fountain. It was small and had a good deal of business. During the brief time when Richland Center allowed the sale of alcohol after prohibition was repealed in 1933, The Blue Bird had a license and sold beer. (Miller & Schlitz since there are signs in the window.) Peter G. Stathis, (1896-1987). Born: Kounoupia, Leonidion, Greece. Married: Chrystanthy Stathis. Children: George Stathis (8th grader in Richland Center in 1947.) In the 1930s and early 40s, he owned and operated both the Bluebird Restaurant on West Court Street and the Crystal Cafe on South Central Avenue. Moved to Sparta in 1945 and owned 3 theaters. Moved to Clearwater, Florida about 1972. Died: 19 October 1987
