- Description
This folder contains correspondence sent mostly to Julia Alcott Lapham and Mary Jane Lapham, daughters of Increase Allen Lapham, as well as a few newspaper clippings. Most of these correspondences handle the dissemination of Lapham's publications and letters (either copies or originals) or Julia's search for information on her father's work. Several of the letters and newspaper clippings discuss Lapham's involvement with the creation of the Weather Bureau, and research on Wisconsin effigy mounds. Also included in this folder are works by (presumably) Julia, such as a variety of newspaper articles calling for the people of Wisconsin to preserve what remains of the effigy mounds, a handwritten copy of her article on Milwaukee street names, and a handwritten copy of an essay on the social life of early settlers. "In the Pioneer Days"; "Sudden Rises of Inland Lakes"; Names of Milwaukee Streets; East Side Streets; West Side Streets; South Side Streets; Handwritten Essay on Milwaukee Street
