This 1871 map of Wisconsin and surrounding states depicts the township survey grid and identifies counties, named towns, cities and villages, rivers, lakes, railroads, and the Chippewa and Oneida reservations. Horicon Marsh is labeled Horicon Lake. A table provides 1870 populations for Wisconsin counties, towns, and cities and villages. Also shows counties in eastern Minnesota, upper penninsula of Michigan, northeastern Iowa, and northern Illinois. Includes "Population of the state of Wisconsin by towns, as compiled from the Census of 1870" -- bottom margin.
