This folder contains professional and personal correspondences to and from Increase Allen Lapham in 1872. The letters relate to a variety of Lapham's interests such as botany, astronomy, geology, archeology, and meteorology. Two sets of letters contain correspondences between Lapham and his family during two trips he made; one to Jacksonville, Florida, in January, and one to Michigan in June. Other documents in this folder include: List of Rain and Melted Snow Levels; Meteorological Memorandum; Party and Reception in Honor of the Grand Duke Alexis; To the Meteorological Observers of the Smithsonian Institute; A Correct Copy Made by Increase Allen Lapham on January 29th, 1872, of an Original Commission from John Avery to Samuel Leonard in 1776, Along with the Original Commission.
