The correspondence covers a variety of Lapham's interests and pursuits; including botany, historical and scientific societies, meteorology, geology, and fossils. Letters written between Lapham and colleagues throughout the country detail exchanges of plants, scientific equipment, meteorological data, and geological profiles. The folder includes several deeds of gift from various institutions and associations for resources sent by Lapham, certificates of membership to institutions and associations around the country, and an honorary law degree from Amherst College.
