Bottom of the map includes a legend of soil; "SECOND CLASS SPOILS GOOD TO FAIR FARM LAND" are represented in shades of yellow and orange, "THIRD CLASS SOILS FAIR FARM LAND" are represented in shades of pink, purple, and gray/brown, "FORTH CLASS SOILS POOR FARM LAND" are represented in shades of blue and green, and "FIFTH CLASS SOILS PASTURE OR FOREST" are represented in shades of brown and gray. The legend also includes symbols for landscape, boundaries, railroads, and highways. Relief shown by hachures. Bottom of the map reads: "Cartography by R.D. Sale, assisted by Rodney Helgeland, Bill Kuepper and Patrick Healy. Base from U.S.G.S. planimetric maps."
