Front Picture Description: Black and white image of a man and a woman standing in front of a map, the man is holding a plaque. Betty Lucille Deets Hardy was born 9 Jan 1925 in Bloom City to Buford L. Deets and Bessie M. Norman Deets. She graduated from Richland County Normal in Richland Center. She married Melvin LaVerne Hardy on 19 Jan 1944. Lucille was the secretary at Trinity United Methodist Church and was also an election poll worker for many years. She died 7 July 2016 and is buried in the Richland Center cemetery. Melvin LaVerne Hardy was born 13 Oct 1923 in Richland Center to Vernie V. Hardy and Winnie Draper Hardy. He attended Richland Center schools and was a Staff Sergeant in the US Army during World War II. He married Betty Lucille Deets on 19 Jan 1944. He had also worked at the city’s electric generating plant, owned & operated the Mobil station on Sextonville road and also worked at Elm Grove Dairy. He was a member of the fire department.
