This photograph was published in the La Crosse Tribune on March 13, 1962. The photograph's caption reads: "Logs, an estimated 300,000 to 400,000 feet of them, were lined up along Highway 53 north of Onalaska Monday awaiting shipment to mills. The logs were cut on government land near to Lytles. Eric Lawson of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service said the logging was part of the government's timber management program." On the envelope housing the negative is written: "March 12, 1962. Pile of logs off Highway 53."
