Chacaltaya, Bolivia: Looking down glacier-like ski run. 17,000 ft. above sea level. Storm clouds far below.
The Chacaltaya Ski Lodge was established by Club Andino Boliviano in 1939. It was the highest ski run on Earth at 17,785 feet high. Global warming had caused the glacier to melt by 2009, six years sooner than scientists had predicted.
