- Description
This bird's-eye view of Ashland, with its prominent ore docks, illustrates its importance as a Great Lakes shipping center. Bird's-eye views, based on ground surveys translated into an aerial perspective, were a manifestation of civic pride popular from around 1860 to 1920.
