- Description
Yunnan Province, China 1943 - 1945
Women of the village plant rice shoots as a Spring storm moves into the valley. Most planting was done in Spring. Men and oxen prepare the soil just ahead of the planters. Teams moved from one area to another planting the shoots with machine-like precision. The bundles in the water are shoots grown near the homes and brought to the fields for transplanting.
