- Description
One of the many thousands of tiny towns in north China. A bit too small for a sizable wall; but the moat serves the same purpose. This one in the vicinity of the Lunghai R.R. near Sian, Shensi [Shaanxi].
China: Yellow River flood - Kaifeng Jews
Caption from Harrison Forman's book Changing China: Chinese farmers don't, as a rule, live in isolated farmhouses, but cluster in walled hamlets and villages from which each family works its own strip of land near by.
