This folder contains several reports and affidavits testifying to the intimidation, beating, and harassment of blacks registering to vote or campaigning for black candidates. It also includes a list of Mississippi legislators and staff who were members of the White Citizens Council. A July 1964 resolution by the Mississippi State Bar Association to establish a "Special Liaison Committee" and a list of its members are here. A SNCC pamphlet, "Mississippi: Subversion of the Right to Vote," and an MFDP pamphlet, "Statistics of Negro and White Voter Registration in the Five Congressional Districts of Mississippi" are also included, as are newspaper clippings about the increase in Negro voters in the South. Blank voter registration forms--regular (?) and Freedom--are also here. A typed list of the percentage of blacks in each Mississippi county is in this folder as well as a report on efforts to line up housing for Freedom Summer volunteers.
