- Description
The Trinity Chapel shows the transition from Norman to Early English. The aisle windows have Norman round arches but have Early English roll moldings in the arches and capitals with early stiff-leaf foliage. The crypt windows have pointed arches but no molding or capitals. The clerestory has lancet windows with roll molding on the arches supported by detached shafts with stiff-leaf capitals. However there is Norman billet molding decorating the hood molding of the windows. Large Early English buttresses and flying buttresses are needed to support the roof because of the large expanse of windows in the walls.
