- Description
View of the John Edwards Manufacturing Company in Port Edwards, shortly after being built (about 1897 in photo). Note the pulp grinding stones in storage outside of the mill. The stones were driven by water turbines, powered by the river. Periodically the surface had to be refaced to get better grinding surfaces and that is what these stones are probably outside for.
