- Description
This is a scrapbook of clippings from the New York Times (1964-1968), the New York Herald Tribune (1964-1967), the New York World Telegram and Sun (1964), the New York Daily News (1964), and the New York Journal American (1964) about the murders of James Chaney, Andrew Goodman, and Michael Schwerner, the search for their bodies, the identification of their killers, and the initial release and eventual conviction of some of the killers that Carolyn Goodman, Andrew's mother, apparently put together. The New York Herald Tribune contains many excerpts from William Bradford Huie's book, Three Lives for Mississippi. Based on Huie's interviews with Klansmen even before the FBI identified the killers, it appears to give the inside story of the killing of the three civil rights workers from the Klan members' point of view.
