This folder contains correspondences to and from Increase Allen Lapham from September to December of 1870. The vast majority of these letters relate to Lapham's assignment and work as the Assistant to the Chief Signal Officer of the Army in Charge of Telegrams and Reports for the Benefit of Commerce, with Albert James Myer (the Chief Signal Officer) being the chief correspondent.
