This photograph was published in the La Crosse Tribune on May 1, 1965. The photograph's caption reads: "A woman picks up bottled water at a French Island store. The water, bottled by La Crosse dairies, is provided free by the La Crosse Health Department to residents of flooded areas because of the possible contamination of water supplies." On the envelope housing the negative is written: "May 1, 1965. Flood clean-up on French Island."
