This photograph shows an old, white brick building on W Wisconsin Ave. The building was first erected in 1876, with additions built around 1882. At the time the photo was taken, the building was home to Marty's Tie City, Wisconsin Discount House, and Farmer Fanny Candy. To the left, in a separate building, is a restaurant called Butter Bun, "Home of the Fabulous Burger". This building has since been demolished.
Jul 60 / B-399 / D 916 / 407-413 W. Wisconsin Ave, W of N 4th Str, ss of str. July 1960 / Lapham's map of 1855 or earlier indicates that it was occupied by a small bldg. of some sort, very likely as a residence. Map shows that the lot at that time extends [illegible] along what then was known as Spring St between 4th and 5th Sts. / Wudtke Collection
