This photograph shows the Alhambra Theater, shortly before it was razed in October of 1961. The theater was built to showcase vaudeville shows in 1896, and was converted to a movie palace in 1911.
Oct 61 / B 479 / D 188 / Picture at right, building shown located at the northeast corner of West Wisconsin Avenue and North Fourth Street, as location of Alhambra Theatre, opened December 20, 1896, converted for showing of motion pictures year of 1911. In later years theatre was at various times more or less closed. Building was razed October 1961. Theatre when first opened featured vaudeville shows.
