- Description
Sanli Chen, known as Sanyuan (pseudonyms) was born in Jiangxi, China. Chen was a reformer, excellent poet and educator in the late Qing dynasty. He was an active member of Hundred Days’ Reform (a national political movement in 1898). After the reform fails, he went back to Jiangxi and refused to participate in politics, which gave Chen a lot of time to work on poems. He was given a title as “the last traditional Chinese poet” for his poetry achievement. Chen is also a pioneer educator. He promoted new-style pedagogy in a school in which there is no old requirement such as studying eight-parts essays for passing imperial examinations.
After snow stops, it immediately starts drizzling. Living in a wild place is like settling in another world. Cold and warm currents against each other cause clouds restlessly to drift away, which allows me to examine valley landscape thoroughly. (This place is so quiet). A rustling noise and crunching of dry leaves serve as a cue telling me there are visitors. Water sounds of a flooding stream trigger me to play a qin (an ancient Chinese stringed instrument) to accompany the natural music. Rains dampen wings of a solitary eagle. It flies and throws off water in the evening sunshine.
