This folder contains both personal and professional correspondences of Increase A. Lapham (1811-1875) for the years 1860 through 1865, divided into chapters 10 through 15 of a rough draft biography. Also included are several speeches and essays as well as scientific data (and accompanying illustrations) collected by Lapham and associates titled: "Geology of Wisconsin: 1860"; "Notes on Geology of Ohio: 1860"; "The Different Kinds of Plants"; "Barometrical Observations Made Simultaneously at Milwaukee, Wisconsin by I. A. Lapham, and at Dubuque Iowa by Asa Horr, During Certain Storms"; and "Some Facts Respecting the Great-Lakes of North America by I. A. Lapham L. L. S. of Milwaukee Wisconsin U. S. A.; Read at the Meeting of the British Association for Advancement of Science Aug. 29. 1863 at New Castle Upon Tyne". The contents of this folder were transcribed by Lapham's daughter, Julia Alcott Lapham who began in the early 1870s to hand write and then type a chronology of her father's life
