- Description
This commercial vernacular structure was built in 1896 by Morgan Building Company for Frank Darrenougue. He used the site for his barbershop. Darrenougue came to the United States from France in 1878. He worked as a barber for his brother August Darrenougue before he opened his own shop. In later years Frank sold jewelry and shoes. He was also a vice-president of Home Lumber & Construction Company. George Morgan was an architect and the founder of Morgan Building Company. He may have designed the building.
The Reedsburg Historic Survey was conducted from October 1983 through April 1984 by the City of Reedsburg and community volunteers. The project was funded, in part, by a National Park Service and U. S. Department of the Interior grant, administered by the Historic Preservation Division of the State Historical Society of Wisconsin. The surveys and accompanying photographs, housed at the Reedsburg Public Library, were compiled to determine National Register of Historic Places eligibility.
