Photo shows part of the old Richards home, extending nearly to the center of the alley. Just to the right, this high elevation of land begins to drop off sharply and reaches to low point at North Third Street. As Third Street in the early days (then known as the Green Bay Road) the only one in this area, and from here around 395 steps up the hillside led to the home.
