- Description
January 8, 1938. Kitale, Kenya: Grain haulage by a ten-ox team. Not only is the ground broken with ox labor, but the products are gathered and taken to town (see picture No. 8) by oxen. Although the town lies on the railroad, the great distance from the coast makes the gasoline cost high, even automobile fuel selling at about 60 cents a gallon, so that simpler forms of transportation are used when feasible. c. 7000 feet. 08:35.
