- Description
May 1964 WATS line calls. The usual arrests, demonstrations, mass meetings, beatings, and threats and intimidation are documented here. Unique entries involve the confiscation of books from Mississippi freedom schools by police; the tear gassing and bayoneting of Cambridge, Maryland, demonstrators by the National Guard; and a report by Joanne Bowman about the Mississippi State Sovereignty Commission's theft of her correspondence and surveillance of her.
