Performer: Nongenile Masithathu Zenani, a Gcaleka woman
Place: Outside, edongeni, near Masithathu Zenani's home, 10 am (to 4:15 pm, with brief breaks at dgts 500, 638, and, on side 2, 116); good weather continues
Audience: Audience varies throughout the day; at the start: two women, three children
Notes: Lith', she quivers her hand; points first to the back of her head, then to the top: nali wam; ngaph', back of head, top of head; superb. The narrative is now about eleven hours long, and is not complete: it will be continued tomorrow. The narrative mainly concerns Mityi, but reference to Hayibo recurs. Major difivions yesterday and today remain Mityi's invocation of the isigodlo of her mother. Background at times: we eat chicken on one occasion, umngqusho on another, drink variously tea and amarweu and utywala. New batteries added
