An article about the Logan African Expedition appearing on page 1 in volume 75, number 47 (April 16, 1930) of the Round Table (Beloit College newspaper).
Beloit's Research Work Told In Chinese Paper " The Round Table was the recipient of a letter from Watson G. Rasey, ex '26, of Shanghai, China, concerning an article in the Shanghai Sunday Times regarding the work of Beloit graduates in anthropological fields. The Associated Press article described the work of Dr. Alonzo W. Pond in Algeria searching for the first man, with the aid of twelve Beloit College students, and that of Dr. Roy Chapman Andrews in Asia." Dr. George L. Collie of the faculty who taught both of these men is inclined to favor Dr. Pond's theory that the first man originated in Africa and then migrated across the Sahara which was at that time heavily covered with vegetation finally arriving in Europe." The article was written in Beloit on February 21st and printed in the Shanghai Times on March 16th. The letter reached Beloit Monday, April 13th.
