- Description
Two business blocks make up the Farmers & Merchants Bank building surveyed in 1983. On the east is a building that was there between 1892 and 1898. On the west is the Dangel Brothers block built ca. 1902 and used by Gus Dangel as a music store. The architectural style associated with the building is commercial vernacular. The location has housed a number of ventures over the years including a hardware store, a saloon, a bowling and pool hall, Siefert Furniture, a jewelry store, photography shop, and Schultz Brothers Variety store.
The Reedsburg Historic Survey was conducted from October 1983 through April 1984 by the City of Reedsburg and community volunteers. The project was funded, in part, by a National Park Service and U. S. Department of the Interior grant, administered by the Historic Preservation Division of the State Historical Society of Wisconsin. The surveys and accompanying photographs, housed at the Reedsburg Public Library, were compiled to determine National Register of Historic Places eligibility.
