note on back of photograph:From 421 Fountain St (looking northeast) (n.d.) The house appears on both the 1871 Taylor &Willits map of Mineral Point and the 1872 birdseye map of Mineral Point. The 1880 Special Assessment of Mineral Point lists Jos. F. Miller as owner of lots 18, 19, & 17, block 31 Strong’s; value: $450. Joseph Miller (1819-1901) was a carpenter from Pennsylvania; he built and lived in a home on High Street, the back lot of which adjoins this lot.
