The reaper was a seminal invention marking the start of mechanized agriculture. Peter Morgan Swartz acquired a reaper in 1864, and later this advanced rake arm model, patented in 1874. The following sequence of images show mechanization progress on Cornfalfa Farm. (In this picture, the Swartz Brothers are using the reaper to cut alfalfa on their test plots.)
