- Description
This photograph was published in the La Crosse Tribune on December 22, 1966. The photograph's caption reads: "A fantasy of sweets has become a family tradition for Sandra and Kristine Cleary, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Cleary, 1738 Cameron Ave. This year's creation, a gingerbread cottage, is made from candies and treats left from Halloween. It will be dismantled and eaten after Christmas at a party which Sandra, at rear with Mrs. Cleary, and Kristine will host for their friends. The girls help with the design of the house and over the past seven years they have perfected many of their ideas. This year the cottage is complete with a miniature tree and presents on the inside. Each will is a separate sheet of gingerbread and 'brick candies' form the chimney, a sure target for Santa on Christmas Eve." On the envelope housing the negative is written: "December 22, 1966. Mrs. Russell Cleary and girls with candy house."
