- Description
Front Picture Description: Black and white image of an automobile pulling a parade float with 3 young women on it. They are moving west on Seminary Street in front of the Park Hotel. There are crowds of people along both sides of the street. The picture is taken looking southeast at the intersection of Central Avenue. Description from The Richland Democrat, 29 Jun 1950 published in Richland Center, Wisconsin: “The Dairy Queen’s float was adjudged to be the most ornate, and in the Queen’s seat was Jena Rohn of Buena Vista. Jena was selected from the three finalists to wear the crown of the Queen, and it was placed on her by Mrs. A. V. Miller, wife of the general chairman of Dairy Day. The crowning of the 1950 Queen was done just before the start of the parade, the judges’ decision being kept secret until that time. The two runners-up, Mildred Harris, Viola, and Moreen Kepler of Sylvan, occupied equally prominent places on the pretty float as the Queen’s attendants.” Signs in Photograph:
