Real Photo postcard (ca. 1940) of the Post Office building on the corner of Harrison Street and Dickason Boulevard. Completed in 1939, this was the first federally owned post office in Columbus. Before that, postal services were provided in a series of locations around the city, starting in 1845 with postmaster H.A. Whitney. This post office was one of several constructed in Wisconsin by the federal Public Works Administration in the 1930s and one of over 1800 constructed nationwide under the Roosevelt administration.
