Side view of horse, sulky and driver on Main Street just south of intersection with Mill Street in Richland Center, WI. On left/west side of street can be seen signs, “Leonard's Gallery”, “Photo Rooms”, “Boarding House”, “North Hotel”, “Meals..., W. H. Peckham” and on right/east side of street signs are: “Photo Rooms”, and “Boyl & Lewis Grocer”. Horse was alive 1887-1908. Typed sticker on back, “Charles Knobel...seated in the high-styled sulky used at the turn of the century. Ray Jackson foaled in 1887 & standing 15 hands 3 inches is the equine.” 2nd typed note on back, “Charles Knobel was born in Germany. At the age of seventeen, he came to America. He married Nellie Fries of Richland Center. Their one child was Marcia Nobel. One of Mr. Knobel's interests was horses. This is Ray Jackson, Jr. (called Nelson by the family).” Newspaper clipping glued on back, “The Richland Observer, Feb. 25. 1988- 80 Years Ago - 1908: The well-known trotting stallion, Ray Jackson, owned for several years
