The materials in this folder help document the preparations for Freedom Summer, the living conditions of Mississippi blacks, and some of the internal politics of COFO. It contains information about COFO's history, political program, organizational structure, and its 1963-1965 plans for voter registration, community centers, freedom schools, and the Democratic National Convention (1964)--as well as references to the violence the group encountered.
