Front Picture Description: Black and white portrait of a woman with curly hair wearing a ruffled and laced dress with very large puffy sleeves. Eno Downs was born Apr 1876 to Judge Daniel Lyman Downs and Mary D. Cowen Downs. Her siblings included Hubert L. Downs (1853-1921), Alla L. Downs Black (1855-1923), Lee Downs (1860-1931), and Minnie Lurena Downs (1867-1871). As a girl she studied painting with Ella Sanford and was an accomplished artist in oil, water color and pastelles. Eno worked as a trimmer for Kate Eastland’s millinery in 1902. She married 13 August 1903 to Fred Jones and they lived on South Main Street in Richland Center, Wisconsin. They had a son Bufort Downs Jones in 1905. Eno divorced Fred Jones in 1911 because he was a habitual drunkard. In 1912, Eno moved to Platteville and opened a millinery store and stayed there for about 6 months. She then moved to Montana. Eno married again and moved to Texas where she later died.
