This map shows the region of southeastern Virginia which served as the setting for the Peninsular Campaign of 1862. A few battle sites are marked by crossed swords. Railroads, towns, county names and boundaries, and drainage are shown. The 5th Wisconsin Infantry and the 1st United States Sharpshooters were involved in several of the Seven Days Battles that occurred near the end of the campaign, including the Battle of Mechanicsville on June 26, the Battle of Gaines Mills on June 27, and the Battle of Malvern Hill on July 1.
