Jim Bollinger Field Dedication, Jim Bollinger sitting at reception, June 1997. On upper campus, across Clairemont Avenue, Jim Bollinger turned the 40 acre sandy field along Stein Boulevard into a recreation complex for students, faculty, staff, and community members. It was dedicated to Jim Bollinger when he retired in 1997. Bollinger was assistant chancellor for administrative services, and helped oversee campus improvement projects such as: construction of Hibbard Humanities Hall, remodeling of McIntyre Library, and rerouting vehicle traffic away from the center of campus.
