Born: 15 December 1866, Forest Township, Richland County, Wisconsin, to Joseph Hartley Benson (1844-1919) & Martha Jane Hoover Benson (1843-1872). Siblings: George Thomas Benson (1863-1880), William Henry Benson Sr (1864-1932), Mary Elizabeth Benson Clark (1869-1954), Tracy Ensco Benson (1876-1956), Ora Agnes Benson (1881-1882). Graduated from Richland Center High School in 1890. Graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1899. Taught at Richland Center High School. Married: 12 December 1901 to Alice May Bancroft. Graduated from the University of Chicago. 1904, received doctorate degree from Rush Medical school, Chicago, Illinois. Practiced medicine in Richland Center for his entire career. Served as a Captain in the US Army Medical Corps during World War I. Member of: Methodist church, Masonic lod
