- Description
Responding to criticism and charges of aggression, the Wisconsin Anti-Prohibition Association produced this pamphlet in 1885 to clarify its position and goals on various alcohol-related issues. Organized primarily by German American brewers, the Anti-Prohibition Association sought to protect the brewing industry from legislative restrictions on the sale of alcohol as well as the efforts of temperance reformers who wanted to eliminate the industry completely. This pamphlet uses statistical information on brewing revenue in Milwaukee to show how essential the industry had become to the state economy
