- Description
Jayson Swartz and nephew Peter are looking at some well-preserved apples that are still in good condition after being stored since the summer of 1948 in their own specially designed 'Apple Keeper'. This is a basement dug deeply into the ground, with rock walls three feet thick. On a hot summer day the temperature here is almost down to freezing, and it stays that way the year around. Apples from the Swartz 'Apple Keeper' are crisper and fresher than apples you can find anywhere else.' Typewritten note on back of photo.
