Oil portrait on canvas of Nymphus Blackwell Holway (1824-1892). Arriving in La Crosse in 1854 to get in on the ground floor of the money-making lumber business, Holway owned a successful lumber mill in North La Crosse. He built his home, 'Holway Castle' on Cass Street but died before he could move into the massive stone structure.
