This quilt is named Bailey's Harbor Range Light. It is a small square wall hanging with appliques of the range light at Bailey's Harbor on the front of the quilt and a block with information about the light on the back. The quilt has a dark blue starry material as a border with an eight pointed gold star on each of the 4 corners. Marge made this quilt because her family vacations for a week every year in Door county and they almost always end up staying near Bailey's Harbor. The front of the quilt is the range light which was built in 1869. A range light is different than a standard light house because there are 2 lights 108 feet apart, a lower light and an upper light on top of the light keeper's house. Bailey's Harbor has a good harbor but the channel to access the harbor is narrow for a big ship. Ship captains would line up the upper and lower lights and then they knew they were on track to enter the harbor safely. Marge learned how to do applique work for this project. The pattern
