- Description
This commercial vernacular structure was built in 1910 for use as a creamery. A number of local businessmen established the Reedsburg Creamery Association in 1887. By 1890, W. P. Dennett was the sole owner. Dennett sold the creamery to Henry W. Sorge around 1899. Sorge ran the creamery until his death in 1921 when his sons took over. Beginning in 1927 and continuing through the 1960's several mergers and buyouts occurred. The building housed a creamery operation until 1965. The building has also housed Coachworks (auto repair), National Delivery (wholesale herbs) and Homestead Cabinets.
The Reedsburg Historic Survey was conducted from October 1983 through April 1984 by the City of Reedsburg and community volunteers. The project was funded, in part, by a National Park Service and U. S. Department of the Interior grant, administered by the Historic Preservation Division of the State Historical Society of Wisconsin. The surveys and accompanying photographs, housed at the Reedsburg Public Library, were compiled to determine National Register of Historic Places eligibility.
